History
A vision was born from the lives of bees.
Gösta Carlsson, the founder of Cernelle, was very interested in the lives of bees. At the age of 6, his father let him help with the family’s own colony of bees. With increased knowledge that pollen, nectar and water are the essential ingredients for honey production and that pollen helps to spread life in the countryside, Gösta became more and more convinced that humans could also benefit from the life-giving grains of pollen.
Gösta passionately embraced the challenge, which most scientists throughout the world considered as mission impossible, to extract the contents of the microscopically small pollen grains. He was convinced that purified extracts of pollen would be of value to improve human health. With determination, he and his team managed to become the first ones in the world to extract the beneficial substances from the machine harvested pollen grains. The company Cernelle was founded 1953 in Sweden and the extraction methods were further developed to extract pollen in large scales and to produce, the today worldwide established, Cernitin™ pollen extracts.
Using modern technology, qualitative research and competent people we have set out to drive and accelerate our leadership in this segment, to contribute for a better everyday life for many people.
Cernelle is passionately committed to develop and deliver Cernitin™ pollen extracts based pharmaceuticals, with an emphasis on effective relief of lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostate diseases.
Cernelle is located in the rural area Vegeholm in southern Sweden, where fields and pastures create a patchwork rich in colours and scents. This is where it all began, and this is where we will continue to evolve and build a prosperous future.
Since December 2021 Cernelle is a subsidiary of Dermapharm AG, www.dermapharm.de.
